Modernisation and Improvement Programme

Cestria Community Housing is doing a major programme of improvement and repair to bring all homes up to a decent, modern standard. This was the promise the Council made to tenants when you voted for transfer. We want all our homes to be comfortable and warm with modern kitchens and bathrooms.

In many homes we will need to do works to the electrics, heating systems, kitchens and bathrooms in order to bring the property up to standard we know tenants want.

We know it will take us around five years to get all our homes up to standard. However, in less than 2 years we have already completed all scheduled installations of doors and windows. The heating programme will continue to 2012 by which time we will have fitted new heating systems to over 2,300 homes.

During 2009 we started our internal improvement programme. In the following 3 years we expect to improve over 1100 kitchens and bathrooms. Also this year we have commenced, ahead of programme, with 2 environmental improvement contracts dealing with boundary improvements such as new walls and gates and estate improvements such as off street car parking.
